MULTI-LAYER PLASTIC RECYCLING An important step towards resource sustainability.
About us
Plastigram Industries a.s. (PGI) has developed a technology for recycling the remains of used beverage cartons (UBC, e.g., Tetra Pak, Elopak, SIG Combibloc) after paper recycling. At the moment, used beverage cartons are usually recycled in paper mills that only recover the paper component. The remaining polyethylene and aluminum (“polyal”) is typically incinerated (or landfilled). Our process allows for recovery of plastics (LDPE regranulate and regrind from caps) and aluminum (powder).
Beverage cartons are made of multi-layer composite consisting of paper, polyethylene and aluminium.
Paper is recycled at paper mills and remaining PE and Al composite is typically incinerated.
PGI technology allows recycling of PE and Al composite with the main final product being LDPE regranulate.
Our technology represents an important step towards resource sustainability. It significantly lowers the volume of landfilled and incinerated waste, reduces energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, and saves raw materials. In addition, it allows paper mills recycling UBC to reduce the cost associated with waste disposal.
Less waste for landfilling and incineration
Less energy consumed
Less raw materials consumed
Less greenhouse gases
Feed in material
We offer to our partners a price-attractive and environment-friendly disposal of the remains of used beverage cartons (e.g., Tetra Pak, Elopak, Sig Combibloc) after paper recycling.
We offer to our partners LDPE regranulate, regrind from cap and aluminum powder. Please contact us at sales@plastigram.eu for more information.
LDPE regranulate

Suitable for example for injection molding or film blowing (in laboratory conditions a 25 μm film was blown).
Production volume of ca 6,000 tons annually.
Regrind from caps
Mixed colors.
Composition: HDPE ca 45%, LDPE ca 35% and PP ca 15-20%.
Contaminants (Alu, paper fibres, etc.): < ca 2%.
Melt flow rate of 7-8 g / 10 min (190°C, 2,16 kg).
Production volume of ca 1,500 tons annually.
Aluminium powder
Share of organic contaminants (mostly paper fibers) ca 40%.
Production volume of ca 1,000 tons annually.

EU co-financing
Equipment for the recycling line in Sokolov has been co-financed by the European Union.
The European Union has also co-financed a project aimed at minimising water consumption in the material recovery of the intermediate product from the recycling of used beverage containers.
Plastigram Industries has applied for the Czech patent for technology for recycling recycling the remains of used beverage cartons (e.g., Tetra Pak, Elopak, Sig Combibloc) after paper recycling.
Plastigram Industries has started operations of a pilot plant in Čestlice. The pilot plant should verify a process of recycling multi-layer packaging materials developed by the Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals of the Czech Academy of Sciences, v.v.i.
Plastigram Industries a.s. signed a license agreement with the Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals of the Czech Academy of Sciences, v.v.i. The agreement gives Plastigram Industries an exclusive right to use a patented solvent-based technology for recycling of composite packaging materials.
